About Patrick Mceachen
Patrick McEachen began playing hockey when he was two years old. At age five,
Mr. McEachen played for the Stouffville Clippers (now the Stouffville Spirit), a
Rep A team in the Central Canada Hockey League. When he was just 10 years old,
Mr. McEachen won the Town of Whitchurch Stouffville Achievement Award for his
feats in All Ontario Novice AAA hockey. Considering his early, acclaimed start,
Mr. McEachen’s goal to join the National Hockey League (NHL) as a professional
player seems very much within reach.
The NHL has, in fact, already noticed Patrick McEachen’s promise. In 2009,
McEachen interviewed with five NHL teams prior to the start of the league’s
draft. In 2008, he played in the NHL Top Prospects Game hosted by the Canadian
Junior Hockey League. Mr. McEachen also earned a place on the NHL Central
Scouting’s Players to Watch list and, in both 2007 and 2008, found himself on
the roster of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League’s All-Star Junior
Team.
When Patrick McEachen was nine, he joined his first AAA hockey team, the most
competitive of Canada’s junior league divisions. In both 2001 and 2002, he led
his teams to championships in the Ontario Minor Hockey Association, and in 2007,
the Ontario Hockey League’s St. Michael’s Majors drafted him from the Priority
section. That year, Mr. McEachen also earned the distinction of being named a
Men’s Under 17 Provincial Selection Camp Finalist.
Though his hockey credentials are impressive, Patrick McEachen has goals
beyond the hockey rink. Eventually, he would like to succeed in the business
world. To prepare for that competition, he studies Economics at Queen’s
University in Kingston, Ontario. His achievements as a student also invite words
of praise: during high school, he earned a French Diploma for his mastery of
that language and an Academic Achievement Award for his grasp of Canadian
history. Outside the classroom and off the rink, Mr. McEachen enjoys listening
to country music and volunteering with the Salvation Army.
